The WLAN community has tried many times to correct common misnomers that are inaccurate, redundant, or cause confusion to engineers and end users alike. There are even many terms not agreed upon amongst the experts. Over the past several years, new trends like the mobile device explosion, BYOD, IoT, and the availability of Wi-Fi connected trendy gadgetry that can do anything under the sun have put mobility in the tech spotlight and somehow the two very different yet co-dependent fields, Mobility and WLAN Networking, became synonymous with one another.

In this session I will attempt to define Mobility and clarify the differences between it and Wi-Fi as well as cover terminology and technology from the numerous technical fields that contribute to this vaguely defined revolution. With topics ranging from the data center to app stores and everything in between this session will give you, as a WLAN engineer, the ability to become part of the larger conversations in your company’s or customer’s projects without the need to become an expert in every field.
